I am giving Out of Africa & Kudu Bar four stars. I should let it be known though, that I WANT to give it five stars for its food. I was skeptical when I was told the food was incredible at this place. A going-away party brought me out to PJ and I was happily surprised to discover the food was actually fantastic! We went for the Steak Pie and the Grilled Salmon. The side vegetable dishes were tasty and the portions of the mains were large, in particular the pie! The salmon was delightfully grilled with a lovely sauce I enjoyed combining with my mash. Although both savory and delicious, the star dish between the two was definitely the pie! The steak pie had a delightfully flaky pastry top and when broken through, the piping hot beef dish underneath brought so much flavor that I thought it would do well on its own as a hearty beef stew with some carrots, peas and other veg were added to it. The beef was incredibly tender making me believe that the cooks in the kitchen simmered it in the pepper gravy all day to serve it to me that evening as if they knew I was coming. I slopped up the rest of the gravy that I could from the pie with my french fries. GET THE FOOD HERE. Other friends I was with at the time said they had the best burger of their life for dinner, but I can't vouch for them or the burgers. Other nice features: poolside seating, large open and airy layout, Kudu Bar is wonderfully air conditioned, and the staff handled a large group of people fairly well. Why I'm giving it four stars instead of five: the drinks I ordered were below average and Kudu bar apparently sponsors the KL Saracens rugby team. ;p Whilst PJ would be out of my way, I'd definitely consider coming out for this restaurant again to eat the food. Perhaps during the day next time so I can also enjoy the pool!

I accompanied my mom last weekend to the ecentrically named 'Out Of Africa Restaurant & Kudu Bar' located in PJ Palms. We had gone there for a lunch date with one of her friends and was instantly attracted to it's rugged looking, safari-like layout. The restaurant itself was huge, with both outdoor and indoor seating. What was great though, is that it's strategically located next to a huge pool, where kiddies can splash about under the watchful eyes of parents! Out Of Africa's menu was super diverse, with a wide selection of various meat dishes, seafood, soups, finger food and their bar section was fully stocked as well. My mom and I decided to split a Venison pie (RM 52). I can assure you though, they are in no way selfish with their portions. Our pie was MASSIVE enough to stuff the both of us up, and there were still leftovers! Nevertheless, due to the fact that it was filled with creamy mushroom gravy, delicious bits of venison and served with soft mashed potatoes, we ended up polishing up every single bit of it in the end. Out Of Africa is definitely a little on the steep side when it comes to pricing. However their food managed to live up to our money's worth, and we walked away regret-free!
